Persona: Blunt and straight to the point, Aspen might be considered a bit curt with his speech, owing to a general lack of meaningful interaction with other people. That isn’t to say he doesn’t care about being polite or respectful, but rather that he often misses cues and doesn’t know how to hold a conversation. He will end up talking one’s ear off when it comes to the topic of his interests, though.

Weapons: A long handgonne is his favorite weapon of choice, but he uses any firearm with great skill and proficiency. He also seems quite at home with bows and chakrams.

Background

Born in the Golmore Jungle, Aspen was no different from most Rava; he went about his life as most did, being isolated for training once it was made clear that he was male, and spending his life learning to hunt from his teacher. Before he would be released from his mentor and start life on his own, he chanced upon a party of adventurers, one of whom was accompanied by a curious mechanical creature.Curiosity getting the better of him, he approached and learned that these things were called Mammets, though the one in question was simply a wind-up a toy that would follow its owner around. Fascinated, he rendered his services as a jungle guide to the adventurers, and shortly after, made a rather important, if not impulsive decision: He would learn how these were made, and he himself would master the trade.Leaving the jungle behind, Aspen ventured to Ul’dah, where he initially practiced goldsmithing to get acquainted with tinkering, as well as a rather unfortunate bit of pit fighting to earn enough money to purchase wind-up minions to study.After this brief sojourn, he then ventured north, finally settling in Ishgard, drawn to the very recent but growing trend of those wielding firearms in battle. With his abilities and training as a hunter, he carved himself a respectable niche in the community, and even found part-time work at Garlond Ironworks when his love for tinkering with machinery was discovered.Despite fair wages and an abundance of work, he still finds himself in the red more often than he would like, owing to his habit of buying every possible wind-up he could from the markets, and has thus turned to the occasional mercenary work to help gain that bit of extra income.

Making Ends Meet - Aspen isn’t particularly affluent, and because of his hobby, he tends to appreciate anything that would make his next payment relatively easier. Need someone to round out your party? Why not, it works as a ballistics test for his new gun mods anyway.Mammet Enthusiast - Absolutely loves Wind-up toys, Mammets and any derivations thereof. His hobby is toymaking, and he is more than willing to learn more about the craft.Technology Enthusiast - Much like his love for intricate machinery, Guns and magitek in general are excellent ways to get his attention.Drag Me Along - He’s a bit antisocial, but he won’t resist (too much) if someone fancied roping him into a short adventure. (And I personally love it when he does)Totally An Artist, Trust Me! - Given his love for wind up toys and gun designs and his desire to make these, one would think he himself was skilled in drawing out the designs in his mind. He… does his best, but you’re more likely to get a better image listening to him talk then watching him work on blueprints. He doesn’t seem to be aware of his own skill (or lack thereof), though…Fancy A Scrap? - Despite being athletic and raised to be a hunter, Aspen is decidedly poor at hand-to-hand combat, or fighting up-close in general. He does strive to overcome this weakness, and so accepts any and all offers to fight... which has made him a bit of a punching bag, unfortunately.
